Gavin Stenson took on the Captaincy of Southwell Golf Club at the end of March 2024 and has had an excellent start to the season.
Taking on the responsibility of the Club Captaincy has certainly had a positive impact on Gavin’s golf game. Playing with Club Professional Tim Newham in the opening two summer league fixtures, Tim and Gavin have won both of their matches in tough away fixtures at Oakmere Park and Norwood Park, a great start to the defence of the title won by Southwell in 2023.
This weekend, Gavin proved he is more than capable of achieving good results on his own. Playing in the Men’s Spring Cup, the first Honours Board competition of the season, Gavin played some solid golf to score 36 Stableford points and won the event by a winning margin of 2 points. Great playing Skipper, keep up the good form.
