Manaafith a perfect five on the all-weather after Southwell victory Manaafith made it five wins from five all-weather starts with a decisive success in the It's Time To Turn To talkSPORT Fillies' Conditions Stakes at Southwell on New Year's Day. The seven-furlong contest was a Fast-Track Qualifier and the Roger Varian-trained filly is now guaranteed a start in the £150,000 All-Weather Fillies And Mares’ Championships on Good Friday. Sent off the 8/15 favourite, Manaafith raced in fourth under Jim Crowley as outsider River Pride took the five runners along in the early stages. The Shadwell homebred angled out in the straight and came with a smooth run to lead at the furlong pole. Aramis Grey followed Manaafith through and briefly threatened before her challenge petered out, with three quarters of a length separating the duo at the finish. River Pride was a length and three quarters further back in third. Manaafith has now won at five of Britain’s six all-weather tracks, with today’s victory following wins at Lingfield Park, Chelmsford City, Kempton Park and Wolverhampton. Crowley said: “Manaafith seems to enjoy the surface. This was a nice confidence-boosting win for her again – it wasn’t too difficult – and qualifies her for Finals Day. “She is an easy ride and you can put her anywhere in a race. They went quite slow there and then sprinted in the straight, but she always had enough gears to cope with that. For me, she was the best filly in the race and I rode her like that. “Newcastle is a very similar track to here and I think it will probably play to her strengths. There are four Fast-Track Qualifiers in each of the six championship categories hosted at racecourses in Great Britain, Ireland and France. If a filly wins any of the Fast-Track Qualifier races for either the Sprint or the Mile categories, the filly will be qualified for the final of that specific category, or for the Fillies and Mares Final. or * A horse must run a minimum of three times on the All-Weather surfaces in Great Britain, Ireland and France; or twice on the All-Weather surfaces in Great Britain, Ireland, France and once on dirt in Dubai or Saudi Arabia during the qualifying period between October 18, 2022 and the six-day entry stage for the finals (Saturday, April 1, 2023) and then be rated high enough to 'make the cut' in a final by order of its BHA Rating.
