Ladies Day 2024 - Bringing Victory Vibes
Ladies Day naturally attracts stylish outfits and beautiful headwear, and we like to add a competitive edge, and big rewards with our Style Awards. Taking place every year, thousands of racegoers have put their best shoes forward to impress the judges, and this year our judges will be looking for a style fit for a ‘Champion’.
With a huge summer of sport scheduled in 2024, this year’s Ladies Day Style Guide has been inspired by the spirit of victory and encourages racegoers to ‘dress like a champion’ for a day at the races.
Registration to enter the Style Awards competition is free for all racegoers at the event. On the day, simply head over to the flower wall, and strike a pose for our photographer. The shortlist of finalists will then be invited to Winners Enclosure for the final judging panel to select the winning Ladies Day best dressed outfit, with the Winner being awarded a £500 cash prize plus many more!
Style Guide - Ladies Day Outfits
With 2024’s theme, we can’t wait to embrace champions gold, and jockey silks bold. If you need a hand planning your horse racing outfit, we have a few ideas. Particularly on how to pair your winning colours with what makes your outfit ‘you’, and how you can rock champion chic your way.
If you’re going for gold:
- Statement Piece: Steal the show by choosing a statement dress or tailored suit saturated in gold. Pair back accessories to balance the look. We’ve seen some great pieces from Nottinghamshire business Grace and Dotty at past race days.
- Subtle Sophistication: For a more subtle nod to gold, opt for bold gold accessories such as statement earrings, bracelets, or an oversized clutch bag to add a touch of glamour to your ensemble.
- Take Pride: Celebrate your roots by incorporating elements into your outfit that reflect your cultural heritage, traditions or regional roots. To reflect the Nottinghamshire countryside you could incorporate boots, blazers and hats.
- Personal Story: Add a personal touch to your look by adding items that hold sentimental value, particularly vintage pieces
If you’re feeling more bold:
- Bold Colours: Embrace the vibrant colours of champion jockey silks by opting for bold and eye-catching hues in your outfit
- Geometric shapes: Choose contrasting stripes or geometric patterns reminiscent of jockey silks.
- Sports Luxe: With no formal dress code*, combine comfort with cool by infusing your race day attire with a touch of athletic-inspired luxury.
- Elevated Fabrics: Opt for luxe fabrics such as silk, satin, or leather to elevate the sporty aesthetic and add a touch of sophistication to your ensemble.
- Mix and Match: Experiment with mixing sporty pieces with more traditional racing attire for a contemporary twist. Pair a tailored blazer with satin tracksuit bottoms or a structured dress with smart trainers. A headband would partner well too.
What To Wear At The Races
- Pair a gold maxi dress with a tailored blazer for a glamorous yet refined look. Add nude, navy or contrasting sandals with a low heel, matching oversized ruched clutch bag and fascinator.
- Choose a bold, colour-blocked jumpsuit featuring the primary colours indicative of jockeys silks, accessorised with statement gold jewellery, for a playful and chic ensemble.
- Opt for a floral-printed midi dress, featuring motifs inspired by Nottinghamshire’s countryside, paired with a tailored blazer in a complementary colour. Add a block coloured hat, nude sandals and clutch bag.
- High-waisted tailored trousers paired with a silk blouse, sporty bomber jacket and jewelled headband brings a sports-luxe vibe. Pair with oversized sunglasses and a cross-body bag.
Ladies Day Entertainment
Whilst fashion is our favourite, the day is packed with entertainment, food and drink to ensure you have the best day. Once you have cheered on the jockeys to their victory across several races, we’ll be welcoming Vernon Kay for you to get your dancing shoes on, as his DJ set is guaranteed to keep the party going after the last race.
